Scene from Mr. and Mrs. North (1942)
Переглядів 34710 місяців тому
Gracie Allen plays Pam North. In a series of entertaining mystery novels, Pam often comes across as a little ditzy, but is actually sharp as a whip. In this movie version, based on a play that was in turn based on the first novel, Gracie pretty much plays Gracie. Though Pam does eventually help solve the murder, she does so accidentally and actually IS ditzy. Still, Gracie is hilarious and this...
The Execution of Major John Andre (from the 1955 movie The Scarlet Coat)

This movie is a highly fictionalized account of the Benedict Arnold affair, but it does give an accurate sense of the courage Andre showed when facing execution as a spy.

A scene from Border Cafe (1937)
Переглядів 724Рік тому
The final shootout from a 1937 Western "Border Cafe," in which the good guys run down gangsters who have kidnapped the protagonist's father and girlfriend. It's a fun, well-staged gun fight, though it suffers from severe Red Shirt Syndrome. Notice that the two unnamed ranch hands who give their lives to help save the hostages are immediately forgotten. Edgar Rice Burroughs Podcast Episode #26: The Beasts of Tarzan Part 3
Doctor Evil would be proud
I think the one shortcoming of this was how old the actors seemed. In reality Andre was only 30 years old.
Richard Pryor!!
Must be difficult to preserve your precious bodily fluids out there in the desert.
Wow, I noticed that Richard Pryor is in the first scene with the dummy
Loveless was the best because you could feel his anger at being swindled by the Government and Society .
Is that Richard Pryor?
Wieder nicht auf Deutsch...ist nur traurig...lebe ich in England 😮
I knew this was going to be a good movie when I saw that it was approved with certificate #4939.🙄
What a great show, one of the best.
Boris Karloff? Where has this show been all my life?
A real tiger? WTF
Holy crap, wasn't he "King Tut" in Batman, and is that really Richard Pryor as one of the henchmen?
Yes, and yes.
One of the best BV episodes. Great triple twist ending.
I like to see start to finish
He was THE best looking actor EVER on television. There will never be a hotter sexier crazybfitndude than he. Checknoutnthebopening scenea from hisnfirst TV show, Hawaiian Eye. Dude was crazy ripped in 1958!! No personal trainers, not engineered foods and vitamins. Just what his mama and daddy gave him, perfected via a hours and hours of surfing.
Español subtitulado
Is it true that there was a kind of beef between Burroughs and Rudyard Kipling?
Quote from Kipling about Tarzan: "My Jungle Books begat zoos of [imitators]. But the genius of all the genii was one who wrote a series called Tarzan of the Apes. I read it, but regret I never saw it on the films, where it rages successfully. He had "jazzed" the motif of the Jungle Books and, I imagine, had thoroughly enjoyed himself."
👁️👁️ 🐽 👅
RIP Robert Conrad and RIP Richard Pryor
Even though she's an old lady, she's still cute 🥰
Ton Ely was the best
I think this is quite possibly the ultimate American Novel - dark and brimming of Old Testament. I have never ceased to be amazed by it. As for Orson Wells here, he displays total affinity for the text. Brilliant.
Dang, I didn't know Boris Karloff was on the show! I got the entire four seasons on DVD at Walmart last week for $19.00. I can't wait to see the Karloff episode!
Mike made an awesome Tarzan. Wish he had done more Tarzan films.
I checked the text on Project Gutenberg Australia, and, indeed, it is called "the Avenue of the Green Throat," there too. "Throats" are mentioned a few times, especially in action scenes, but Thoats (the Barsoomian animal) are never mentioned in this particular novel. However, Thoats ARE mentioned in all three of the next Barsoom novels. Of course, it _is_ possible that Thoats have green throats. Ghek the Kaldane may have a green throat. Ghek's Thoat may have a green throat. I almost feel like we're getting into a Doctor Seuss story here ("One Thoat; Two Thoats; Green Thoat; Blue Thoats" ...).
I can't imagine living this way.
cool
Where can I find the full movie😘
This show had its good points. But it was ridiculous that every episode (or almost every) had West kissing a woman and fighting a bunch of guys. So repetitive, predictable, and ridiculous.
"Vulcans never bluff". What a classic line!!
WOW, Boris Karloff, and still walking like the Frakenstein monster!
My favorite show growing up I was devastated when it was cancelled
The F### is This show!? Is This Heaven, or is It an illusion. I seriously don’t know.
But one things for sure I’m LOVIN’ it!!
I would like to see the whole movie. Gracie Allen is always funny.
I think JJ Feild in TURN did a spectacular job as Major Andre!
I think both Andres were well portrayed in this movie and in TURN Washington’s Spies. I loved that series growing up in CA, I got into U.S. History because of the Revolutionary War and the founding of the United States thanks to depictions like TURN and the musical Hamilton
@@arlonfoster9997 in the Turn universe, he should never have fxxked with Robert Rogers
@@MarkL-we8uk lol that was a funny situation but historically Roger’s did not capture him, he did capture Nathan Hale four years earlier in 1776
@@arlonfoster9997 ain't disagreeing with you
@@MarkL-we8uk nor am I
I just found #1 of his series in really high grade condition. Can't wait to read then get it graded.
That was better than Turn. They knew how to act in the old timey days
The romanticism of the old movies is attractive but rather ahistorical. Turn was more gritty and down to earth. The location in both is wrong. He was hanged on a hill over looking the town of Tappen. Not on a town common like this movie or by a river like Turn showed.
It sure seemed like Count Manzeppi would have been a long running villain like Dr Loveless, but was only in 2 episodes for some reason.
Not a crazy premise to begin with, it was basically Batman in the 1870s
Victor Buono, Boris Karloff, Michael Dunn & Ida Lupino. The Wild Wild West always had the best guest villains.
Está cena foi mal editada. RON ELY, cena com cilindro de ar e cena sem cilindro de ar.
Thank you sir, this was informative. I would love to see in depth video of Prince Valiant or Hal Foster
Bela Lugosi must’ve been spitting in his grave over Boris Karloffs TV appearance.
Real magic to have invented the van der Graaf generator 40 years earlier than it was invented
Have you heard of Young Tarzan and the Mysterious She?
I know of it, but haven't read it yet.
damm this show was one of the best!! Watching this as a young boy was mind blowing
This was a solid movie but its sad that both of the female leads would take their own lives.
Richard Pryor as a ventriloquist😂😂😂
I read the comic strip collection by Simmons, Dubsich and Walton. One of ERB's best and shows the range he had as a writer, very different from his classic adventure stories.
